PROGRAMS
We offer two intensive ESL Certificate Programs:
1) Get Connected: Community and Workplace
English as a Second Language (ESL) for the Community
(For beginner to intermediate students)
Morning classes: Speaking and Listening, Pronunciation, and Grammar
Afternoon classes: Reading and Writing
- Learn English to help you communicate in the community.
- Learn vocabulary to help you in your daily life: shopping, banking, going to the doctor’s office, talking to your neighbours…
- Practice your English in the classroom.
- Use your English and learn about Canada on regular fieldtrips in the community.
- Develop confidence.
- Make new friends.
Start anytime.
Register for a few weeks, a month, or a semester.
Study part time (mornings only or afternoons only)
or full time (morning and afternoons).
Students receive Canada Benchmarked Certificates, official transcripts, and report cards.
Completion Certificates are awarded to students who complete a semester of study, and Participation Certificates are awarded to students who study for less than one semester.
2) Get Connected: Career and Academics
English as a Second Language (ESL) for Academics
(For intermediate to advanced students)
Morning classes: Speaking and Listening, Pronunciation, and Grammar
Afternoon classes: Reading and Writing
- Develop the skills you need to succeed in your career, to prepare for future academic studies, or to improve your score on tests such as the TOEFL iBT.

Focus on topics and skill development that are important to you.
- Learn to speak more clearly and naturally, and to understand English speakers more easily.

Develop your confidence to communicate in English by discussing issues and academic topics in the classroom.
- Improve note taking and listening skills as you listen to lectures, conversations, and talks.

Develop your vocabulary across a number of different subject areas: business, health and wellness, the environment…
- Improve vocabulary in context and reading comprehension skills.
- Learn how to properly develop paragraphs and essays to write clearly and effectively.
- Improve the accuracy of your communication by applying grammar knowledge to your speaking and writing.

Canada International College is an official TOEFL test center. Students can take the TOEFL test at the college as a credential to add to their resume.
